Viet Nam to host communications meeting

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the proposal of the Asian Institute for Broadcasting Development that Viet Nam host the Asia – Pacific’s first head-of-state level meeting on information, broadcasting and television and the second Ministers of Information meeting in Ha Noi in late 2010.
The PM assigned the Ministry of Information and Communication to prepare for and fulfil the meetings’ organisational needs in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Voice of Viet Nam, Viet Nam Television and all other relevant agencies.

Southern province provided food relief
...has asked the Ministry of Finance to charitably distribute 390 tonnes of rice from the national reserves to assist the southern province of Tra Vinh in giving famine relief to households whose farms are suffering serious crop diseases.
The Prime Minister asked the provincial People’s Committee to manage the distributed food in a timely manner and ensure it gets to the right people.

Hue Hospital receives US donation
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has okayed the Ministry of Health’s support of a project providing construction and equipment to Hue Central hospital’s new Ophthalmology department and training centre sponsored by the U.S East Meets West Foundation.
The foundation will donate US$4 million and the project will be implemented between 2007 – 2008. Hue Central Hospital will provide funding for available equipment and human resources.
Deputy Minister Nhan assigned leaders of the Ministry of Health to sign the project agreement with the donor in accordance with Viet Nam’s regulations governing construction and investment management.
